Our Terroir

The Domaine is located between Montagnac and Mèze in the Hérault.

On rising ground a few km from the Étang de Thau, the Domaine benefits from the area's 300 days of sunshine but is protected from extreme temperatures by its proximity to the sea. The Domaine comprises 70 Ha of contiguous land of which c. 30 Ha is planted with vines.

The Domaine is based on clay / limestone soil and is dominated by a 15m ridge running Northwest to Southeast across the main parcels of the vineyard. The ridge has the benefit of producing a varied terroir with three distinct areas:

  • A higher more stony plateau

  • A gently sloping section, well drained and more protected from the strong afternoon sun

  • A lower section with slightly heavier and more fertile soil

The varied terroir has been used to good effect with the planting of different varieties of grape each suited to the terroir and the style of wine intended. The vines are pruned in a mixture of single cordon and cordon royat
